Divorce

Divorce is the dissolution of the marriage relationship by the judgment of the Court. Divorce actions differ from other legal actions because they involve strong emotions by the parties and because the decision rendered in the action will likely affect both parties for the rest of their lives. Lynn is a caring professional who will work with you to efficiently and carefully work through the divorce process. It is her goal for you to emerge from a divorce with your dignity intact.
Kansas law allows for either a Petition for Divorce, which will end the marriage, or a Petition for Separate Maintenance, which will leave the marriage intact. Within both actions, the Court will make orders dividing property and debt, awarding custody, parenting time, and support for minor children, and providing for spousal maintenance (alimony), if appropriate.
The first step in filing for divorce or separate maintenance is to complete a questionnaire that elicits the information needed by Lynn to prepare the pleadings she will file with the Court on your behalf.

For the past four years, Lynn has co-authored the Family Law chapter of the Annual Survey of Kansas Law with attorney Bradley Manson. The Annual Survey summarizes and analyzes legislation that became law during the previous year, as well as appellate court decisions of the Kansas Supreme Court and the Kansas Court of Appeals for the same period.

Here is the most recent article. 2010 Annual Survey.pdf
